1. Management Organization
The Yang Yi Young Scientist Fellowship was set up by AquaFish Innovation Lab, USA to memorialize Prof. Yang Yi, a former senior staff member of the Shanghai Ocean University and a past president of the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS). It is expected to support excellent young scientists to present their findings at the triennial Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum (AFAF) run by the AFS. The AFS Award Committee will be responsible for finalizing the awards with the assistant of the Executive Officer based at the AFS Secretariat.
2. AFS Executive Officer at the AFS Secretariat
The award will be administered by the AFS Executive Officer at the AFS Secretariat, Marine Biotechnology, Institute of Bioscience (MARSLAB) University Putra Malaysia 43400 UPM Serdang, Selangor, Malaysia.
3. Beneficiary
The Yang Yi Young Scientist Fellowship will support the international travel of two young scientists (less than 35 years old) who already have a Ph.D. Degree or who are Ph.D. students (less than 35 years old) to attend the triennial AFAF run by the AFS. Applications are welcome from all qualified young scientists residing in the Asia-Pacific (AP) region as defined by the AFS Constitution. Young scientists involved in the AquaFish Innovation Lab projects in the AP region are strongly encouraged to apply to attend the forum and to present their research findings.
4. Scope
In 2016, the travel fund will support two young scientists (one male and one female) to attend the 11th AFAF to be held in Bangkok, Thailand between 3rd and 7th August 2016. The travel fund will cover economy return tickets (up to US$700), conference registration fee (US$300), 4 nights’ accommodation (US$250), and out of pocket expenses (US$250) – a total of US$1,500 for each of the two successful awardees.
